I know there's a couple of subjects about this already but I thought I'd start a new topic to save any newcomers some time. I found this on another forum about de-rezzing a Baotian BT50, I'm pretty sure most Chinese scooters like the Taishans have the same engine so I can't see why this won't work on a Sport or Commuter: De-restricting a Baotian BT50
If you want to derestrict your Baotian, open the seat, remove cover at bottom, remove carb cover (2 screws), undo brass piece in carb cover. Job done! How easy does that sound? Anyone care to try it?

Ok I just opened up my Taishan see if I can do it, I see a circle peice of plastic (like a cover with 2 screws) open that up and there is a long piece of metal and some other little bits. Took some circle washer out, and tried to ride the moped and it felt as though something was pulling me back, could only do about 10mph, put the bit back in but still 10mph. But that could be because i have no much petrol, can anyone help. have I broke my moped? can you post pics to derestrict so dumb people like me can do it..

So is your ped derestricted now or did you put everything back as it was? I haven't opened my bike up yet because I wouldn't know a carb from a fuel tank ;D so if anyone out there does it please take a few piccies or do a write-up so idiots like me can have a go.

I have recently derestricted my Boatian 50,this is what to do.Next to were the battery is stored is a little black box with different coloured leads coming out of it,snip the pink lead and cover one end so it does not make contact again.Next lift up the seat and undo the black cover, you are now looking down on top of the carb.Undo the two little screws and take off this black cover on the underside of this cover is a brass screw, undo, and remove. On top of the carb is a thin rubber cover lift off GENTLY to reveal a long thin pin, lift this out and at the top of this pin you will see five small grooves pull off the thin washer off the top groove CAREFULLY and replace on the centre groove, which is the third groove up from the bottom now put it all back together you should now have better acceleration and a better top end speed.Good luck...
