See told you so,thats all you have to do is follow the three steps, but be careful to cut the all pink coloured wire thats goes into the white plug and none of the ones that lead off the battery!
I'm not sure if this derestriction applies to all ages of Boatians, but it certainly applies to 2005 models.

Im pretty sure that derestricting procedure for the baotians doesnt apply for the taishans Theres no moveable washer on the needle in the carb and the only pink wire conected to the black box when disconected shuts the bike down

Looking at the wiring diagrams on the manual, there appears to be a thing called "Speed Limit (Selectable Unit)" It appears to be connected to one brown wire and one green wire! There is a green and a brown wire going into the little black box so tommoro i will be testing to see if disconecting either of them will make any difference

The green wire looks like the best option as it doesnt appear to be conected to anything vital

Let us know what happens when you disconnect the wires hypojam. Also does anyone know anything about deristricting taishans?

dont have the guts to cut the pink wire Some people have reported having a dead scooter after cutting the 'pink' wire, and I am wondering if they are cutting the wrong wire. Just to clarify with this image, the pink wire is not the one from the battery, (more like a purple/reddish colour in the picture), but the one that goes to the multi-connector block on the black box, which in this picture, is placed just above the battery compartment. Some monitors might be set up differently, so the red might look pink, or some people might be colour blind, and this could also cause confusion. I have not tried this modification myself, so probably best to verify this elsewhere before going ahead. Perhaps Phil could amend the original image with this text to save any potential further confusion.

Only just on the road, and still running it in, so I don't need the extra mph yet Just a P.S. Someone asked in another thread, if the speedo odometer (the one that shows miles travelled), clocked up miles or kilometres, I have checked the Baotian and it is definitely kilometres on this.

It was me that asked whether it was miles or kilometres - it's amazing what you can find out by reading the instruction manual. ;D

When I was looking for a new house, some years back, I measured how far it was to walk from the new house to the pub, (exactly 0.7 of a mile), well you have to get the priorities right, so I always use that distance now as my guide.

I've been keeping an eye on this thread and noticed people are a little uneasy about cutting the Pink wire, and even if they are cutting the correct wire!
Problem solved! You don't need to cut the pink wire in the battery compartment. If you kook under the bodywork on the right side, just above the Magneto, you will see that the pink wire is joined here with a bullet connector, Just disconnect! If thing go bad just plug it back in!
By the way, I have discovered what the pink wire is for. Inside the engine cover on the left side (the cover to the Variator and clutch) there is a magnetic sensor that detects the RPM of the back wheel (and therfore actual speed). This info is ent down the Pink wire to the CDI, which will electronically limit road speed. If you disconnect the pink wire, the CDI doesn't know how fast you are going, in fact it thinks you are stood still!
I will post Photo's of all this as soon as I can
