How about you guys send them an email? I’m sure we’ve all noticed the influx of scooters flooding into the country from China over the past couple of years. It seems like every mail order catalogue, car dealer and back street garage is selling them at the moment - but are they good value for money or a risky buy? Some (but not all) of these scooters are being sold with little or no dealer back-up or warranty, so how do you fare if things go wrong? Can you buy spares or get a shop to work on the scoots?
We’re not talking about the well established brands, but want to concentrate on your experiences with the lower-end budget machines.
So if you’ve bought one, let us know your thoughts (good or bad) for an article in a forthcoming edition. Any pictures to accompany them would be most welcome (but please make sure that they are good quality digital images if you are emailing them).
Send details via email to: Chinesescooters@twistngo.com ** or post to: TAG Chinese Scooters, PO Box 99, Horncastle, Lincs LN9 6LZ.
** Don't forget TAG email system (circa 1954) doesn't like HOTMAIL or YAHOO accounts. If you don't have an ISP or normal email address, send us your chinese scoot blurb via the PIMP YOUR SCOOT form - Just mark it 'About your ride!' section that it's a comment on Chinese scooters. 'Kay?

Goody good. Come on folks, you've all got hours to spend posting on here so why not send them an email otherwise they'll be bombarded with "my Chinese ped only lasted a week......" kinda stuff. Remember to mention ChineseScooterClub.co.uk if you can. #14#

Had this answer from TAG which bolds well.
"Hello Robert,
Thanks for your reply, I'm glad your scoot is proving to be good value for money. So far all the responses we've had have been good ones!
Cheers Iggy"

Ah so this explains why I've been receiving loads of messages from devoted Chinese scooter owners! Thanks for the input so far folks and keep it coming - good or bad. There's a few things I'd like to know if you'd all be so kind.... I'd like to know the average age of the riders on here - What sort of riding backgrounds you've got, have you always ridden bikes/scooters or never ridden in your lives and saw these scoots as a cheap way to get around or maybe you've had scooters for years? What scoot would you buy next? Would it be another Chinese scoot or one of the mainstream brands and what cc? Have you got a full bike licence? What's the overall percentage you'd give your scoot? Thanks for any help everybody Iggy

Hello fella, I'll answer some of the questions even though I own a Peugeot now. ;D I'd like to know the average age of the riders on hereI was 30 when I had my Taishan Commuter What sort of riding backgrounds you've gotIt was my first scooter. Have you got a full bike licence? No. I passed my car test in 1993 so no need to do a CBT or anything to ride a 50cc. What's the overall percentage you'd give your scoot?About 85%. I never had any problems with it, it was really easy to ride although the suspension was a bit harsh. My only concern was whether I'd be able to get spares. A guy in a garage didn't seem to keen on servicing it either although he did say he would. Hope that helps. PS: My Pug Club is in the current issue of TAG.

I'd like to know the average age of the riders on here im just a wee baby at 16! What sort of riding backgrounds you've got absolutely none unless u include mountain bikes? lol Have you got a full bike licence? nope, provisional with CBT What's the overall percentage you'd give your scoot? 95% purely because of my speedo cable snapping recently which might have been my own fault What Am i gonna buy next? I want a Honda Varadero 125cc next year when im 17 but will probably keep my noodle machine as a field hack or something ally

Im 52 have had a car licence since I was 17 and when I was 16 I rode a 125 cc motorbike. This is my first scooter and the first time I have been back on two wheels for about 30 years. I had never heard of Chinese scooters and was attracted by the price since I just wanted something for an 8 mile round trip to work. So far no real complaints apart from main stream dealers not wanting to touch them, but I am thanks to this lot enjoying working on it myself. The plastic panels are a little flimsy and I have broken a couple of lugs. At this stage I would recommend them and buy another one. Rating, given the price 100%

Hi Iggy, Welcome along to the wonderful world of the Chinese Scooter! I'd like to know the average age of the riders on hereI'm 33 What sort of riding backgrounds you've gotWhen I was 18-19 I rode a Honda C50 to work and back. Iv'e not riden a bike/scooter of any sort until last year when I got my Baotian. Have you got a full bike licence? No. I passed my car test in 1995 so no need to do a CBT or anything to ride a 50cc. What's the overall percentage you'd give your scoot?I would say overall around 80%, the engine is built solid, but the plastics can be a little 'cheap' feeling. The overall build quality is a lot better than expected! The reason I got the scooter was to cut costs on my commute to work and back (15 miles). The good price for a brand new bike was a major factor!

hiya iggy, I'm 38, back in the early(very early) 80s, me and my mates used everything from Mobylettes,C50s,Raleigh(Runabout I think?)I owned a Suzuki "posiforce" 50, we rode in the backlanes and fields, when I was 16,on a YTS in 1983 I used a Suzuki FZ50, to do the 3 or 4 mile journey to the traning centre.......passed my car test and didn't ride until 1990, I used a Suzuki GS125(S I think) for getting to work. I'm riding on my car license, at the moment I'm doing around 50Kms a day and enjoying every bit of it( including taking my wife to and from "the town" No plans of buying anything else for a while 85% impressed for £600 otr .................. #sprint#
