Firstly, if you've come here after reading my ad on eBay many thanks!! I set this forum up because I wanted a place where Taishan, Baotian (and other Chinese manufacturers) owners could all get together and discuss their scooters. As you can no doubt tell the forum is very very quiet and that's where you come in. Without people like yourself posting this forum will remain quiet but if we all get together and post our thoughts, pics of our bikes, our favourite scooter site links etc etc then this message board could be a great resource. Feel free to post whatever you like, ask as many questions as you want but please read the Introduction topic as there's just a few small rules. I started the eBay ad off as a 10 day listing and once the ten days are over I'll keep re-listing it so that we can get loads of members. So have fun & get posting!!!! ;D

Hi - I'm a new boy who came here through e-bay. I have a baotian 125 city scooter, and I was wondering what you folks knew about getting it serviced. Are local bike workshops happy to do the work?

Welcome along Spaniel, nice to have you on board!! I can't see any probs with taking your scooter to a normal bike garage, most Taishans and Baotians are based on the old Honda Bali bike so any decent mechanic will know what they're doing. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is if ever I need some spare parts as they're meant to be quite rare.

hi. i also came to the website through your ebay link. good idea too as ive been lost because nobody in my area have one and i bought it off a mate that lost the user manual and ive needed help with things and no garages would take the responsability of taking in a taishan to sort because its too much trouble getting spares. great idea phil.

Cheers chap, it's good to have you here!! I set this place up because there wasn't anywhere on the internet just for owners of Chinese scooters. Thanks to certain sites people tend to look down their noses at Chinese bikes but for all the horror stories you hear there's probably twice as many people (if not more) who have had no problems and love their scooters. If you've lost your manual try downloading the service manuals in the Tips section, they mean naff all to me as I'm not mechanically minded but a lot of people should get some use out of them. ;D
