I know 4 strokes are more economical, but what are the performance difference's between a 2 stroke scooter and a 4 stroke scooter?

Not sure what the difference in horsepower would be but a two stroke scoot should accelerate faster and would have a higher top speed if derestricted. 4 strokes tend to be more reliable and will not need piston and rings replacing every 10000 miles

4 strokes are a lot quieter too.

4 stokes are also a lot cleaner runing as they don't burn the oil used to lubricate them.
Overall 4 stroke engines are better.
A well tuned and derestricted 4 stroke scooter, will be very similar to a 2 stroke scooter when it comes to performance.
It's only because 2 strokes have less parts, and are easier to build, that they have been used for so long on scooters.

So a 4 stroke is like a diesel car....cleaner, more economical but not quite got the performance of the petrol!

If Your trying to match scooter's with cars lol: 2 stroke scooter engine= a petrol car engine & 4 stroke scooter engine= a diesel car engine 4 stroke scooters are cleaner, have higher amounts of torque, better design and sound better than 2 strokes. 2 strokes have more power, rev higher, lighter weight and cheaper to make than 4 strokes The similarity's are there lol

i disergree on that 4 strokes have more torque then 2 strokes

to be phnest, if i had known more about 4 stroke 50cc being slower then 2 strokes, i probly would of broght a 2 stroke instead of a 4 stroke, as i like to do 35-40 up hills

Buy a derestricted Pug Blaster and then you'll be able to do 55mph up hills. I'll shut up now.....

i disergree on that 4 strokes have more torque then 2 strokes 4 stroke's do in nearly all cases produce more torque than 2 strokes. Usaully because 2 stroke's have lower compression. some more info: You can now see that two-stroke engines have two important advantages over four-stroke engines: They are simpler and lighter, and they produce about twice as much power. So why do cars and trucks use four-stroke engines? There are four main reasons: Two-stroke engines don't last nearly as long as four-stroke engines. The lack of a dedicated lubrication system means that the parts of a two-stroke engine wear a lot faster. Two-stroke oil is expensive, and you need about 4 ounces of it per gallon of gas. You would burn about a gallon of oil every 1,000 miles if you used a two-stroke engine in a car. Two-stroke engines do not use fuel efficiently, so you would get fewer miles per gallon. Two-stroke engines produce a lot of pollution -- so much, in fact, that it is likely that you won't see them around too much longer. The pollution comes from two sources. The first is the combustion of the oil. The oil makes all two-stroke engines smoky to some extent, and a badly worn two-stroke engine can emit huge clouds of oily smoke. also from another website " 4-strokes are more fuel-efficient, run cooler and produce higher crankshaft torque "

If i bought a scoot it would be two stroke every time #thumbs_up# I would not even consider a four stroke of less than 400cc except for the trusty honda c90

But i dont know whether my scoot is 50 or 80cc

mind you as my 4 stroke hasebt run in yet (170km) and it has not been de-ristricted yet, and i havent put lighter rollers in yet, i cant raly slagg off 4 strokes yet. i admit there alot cleaner and quiter, but at the moment theres something missing from a 4 stroke to a 2 stroke it may be the OMPF

I had a 4 stroke taishan for a few weeks just to buy and sell, my work bike is an xtz750 yamaha(four stroke) and i have just bought a yam aerox 50 for my son when he turns 16 next year. Very impressed with the aerox goes and stops like no scoot i have ridden before

My bike has been derestrcited and thrashed since the day i got it and i havent got any engine probs! Go Go Go
