Those off us who have a free flow filter will notice that it gets dirty pretty quick because of the useless mud quard on the rear tire. well to keep it clean do the following.
1) Take it off and clean it in some warm water scrub it with a brush. And then leave to dry.
2)Get a bottle that would go over the top of it but lets the filter still breath.
3)Cut the bottom of the bottle to the size of the Filterso it covers it.
4)Drill a hole at the top of the filter in the center and also in the bottom of the bottle.
5)Spray your filter with WD40 to catch any dust that may get through.
6)Get a bolt and nut that big enough to go through the bottle and the filter and then tighten up.
7)Attatch back on and then your filter should stay nice and clean.

Good ideas,
I don't think wd40 is a proper filter oil though. Doesn't it just evaporate off?

woow dont use wd40 lol that wont stop naff all any way use proper filter oil or thick engine oil and you need to squeze the exses out.
you should not use wd40 cus if you manage to get that into your engine some times what happens is the motor will start to need the wd40 to for it to start its not to bad in petrol engines but it can happen.

WD40 is mainly for cleaning rust and loosening things quickly, not for prolonged use
i've heard 2 things about wd40 dont know if they are true but here they are
1/ It evaporates quickly after afew days 2/ It can make the engine need it to start

A little advice you don't need to cover your free flow air filter with a bottle or any other cover.... if you di then it is NOT a free flow air filter. All you need to do is use the filter oil on it and please don't cover it. Clean ever 20,000 miles. On a car they recommend every 50,000 on K&N Free Flow filters. Or better yet when it looks dirty.... clean it ... simple is what it is all about ..... NO WD40!!!! it will not work the same....
