Hey Guys Am going to hit my 300km (oil change) mark soon in about 30km. Wanted to ask if anyone has an idea about tyres. The last couple of times I have been riding I have felt a bit unstable on the road, now it could be the surface, and yes it was a bit windy, but still, I am not confident about corners and leaning. Are there tyres apart from the standard that I could be better off with? Jen

Have you got your pressure correct 32 rear 28 front, I find they need to be done weekly and that i notice a difference if they go out by a bit. Mine came with a sticker giveing the wrong pressures. The ones I have given I got from Baotian

Heeh, maybe the tires already were slippery when you got it, you just have grown to "feel" them. It's suggested some of the tires coming from the factory are made of very hard material, which is why they don't do very well under the scooter. Sure, they last long but the contact with road is quite poor. Replacing them with pair that has euro approval will propably help and to be honest, the wimpy 3,00x10" does feel small and unsecure after moving to 3,5x10". I'd imagine at UK, replacing them "shoes" of your ride will cost about 40£ for the tires + 10-20£? for the job, unless your mechanical skills allow you to change the tire by yourself. Of course, the problem can be caused by the pressure too

When I bought my first Bajaj in 1997, the handling was absolutely appalling. The back brake would lock the rear wheel with almost no pressure and most bends were taken in a manner similar to a speedway bike (rear wheel skidding). I changed the factory original "Dunlop Maxi Life" tyres for Michelin Dexters and the handling was transformed. I could stop and lean at far greater angles than before. The bike felt far far safer, in all weathers including snow and ice. These tyres were £20 each but were worth it. Whats your life worth? Dexters are no longer available but Michelin Continental and Metzeler to give a few examples all make excellent tyres. You could do worse than look through back issues of TAG for their multi tyre comparison that they carried out a few months ago.

Thanks guys for your advice. Have now had the first oil change and the brakes have been checked, the tyre pressure was a little low but not much, will be changing the treads soon though for a set of michelins.

Mine was exactly the same but now at 1200 or so Km it doesn't feel too bad. I think it might be related to the sus loosening up..I could be wrong tho but mine feels alot more stable...and now the brakes work ;D
