It doesn't work!
It's a starway QT50-7. Can get it going with the kickstart but the electrics are a bit..........odd.
Anyone know what a cdi is? it's making a weird noise like sand rattling about in a plastic tray! The guy who owned it before me bought it new last year. drove it for 2 months then tried to de-restrict it. it then lay in his garden for 7 months or so. He made a bit of a mess of it. The battery doesn't hold a charge and ther electric start turns it over but it won't actuaslly start. Lights don't work either.
Begining to think I've made a mistake. Printed out the manual so I'm going to have a look inside to see what it SHOULD look like and see if I can put it right.
Any advise will be welcome.

get a new battery you need a YT5L-BS cant get them on ebay for £21, as for the lights check them with a multimeter to see if they are getting a feed, and the cdi should be on the floor next to the battery ally

Hang in there fella! Do like Ally says. one note of interest: Your lights should only light if the engine is on. Also, CDIs are cheap! Good luck& keep us posted!
