Hello, I don't think many of you on here are 16 but they may a few. Like you may now from a previous post of mine I am getting a Baotian BT50QT-9, however being so young with no job the main problem is Insurance. I have been trying for some online quotes with most recommeded motorcycle/scooter insurance companies but I have been receiving quotes around the £500-600 mark. What quotes have others got with this bike or similar but more importantly my age? Thanks very much, Can't wait!

Thanks, I suppose that is not bad but It is only TP, I am worried just in case it gets nicked. I am going to have a chain locked to the ground and an alarm/immobilser, but you never know!

Because these bikes are so cheap to buy it's not worth forking out for top of the range insurance as you'll end up paying more in premiums than it would cost to buy a brand new replacement. If they're quoting you up to £600 that's a lot of cash, you really want to be paying under £200. My advice is play one company off against another. When they give you their quote take £50 off and tell them that's the quote you got with Bennetts, that's what I did and got £60 off my premium.

Thomas,
Try MCE and tell them that you want a quote for TP only and that you have already had a quote of say £180 from Lexhams and they will try their hardest to beat it.
I have just done that for my 16 year old son and they gave me a quote of £195. The cheapest that I had actually got from Lexhams was £330.
Don't bother with TFPT as the excess will be as much as a replacement bike. Also don't fall fowl of all the extra insurances they will try and sell you on top, the only one you really need is Legal cover which is an additional £10.
There number is 0870 010 1125
Ian.

Thanks Ian, It am not quite 16 yet but will definetly keep a hold of that number. sub £200 isn't bad. Like I said my worry is security but I haven't looked at excesses on the quotes and didn't reliase the actual figures!! ridiculous
Again, Thanks
