Hi, Seems Baotian is the most popular make on this forum when it comes to Chinese bikes. I'm looking at a Sukida currently which I believe is the same with just a difft badge. However, I've also stumbled upon a bike by Phantom, specifically a Phantom 50cc CDI. Anyone got any experience of these bikes - any good? Cheers!

You are correct in thinking Baotian is the same as Sukida, I have a Sukida 125, and had no problems. Be carefull with some of these own brand bikes, they often come from thr smaller chinese manufactures, some not bigger than a garden shed! Traders over here, some dont even have premises like a shop, and you cannot deal direct, only through Ebay, can order 1/2 dozen at a time and have thier own branding stickers put on. Not only are they not recognised by DVLA, although they have conformaty notes, import duty paid etc, it can still delay registration, as well as some insurance companies not recognising them also. There are exeptions how-ever, and some of the direct importers are on the level, BTS (Ebay - roddyn) is one I know off. Be carefull, and ask on the forum first if you are not sure.

Cheers, Enu06. I've been looking at a Sukida from The Internet Bike Shop mainly but seems everyone on Ebay claims to be the best, most professional etc. TIBS seems to have as good a feedback as anyone else. The retro styled 50cc bike looks good but no mention of alarm, remote etc. But then TIBS don't mention remote or alarm on any of the bikes. Wish they'd spend more time on spec than blabbering on about everyone else!

Yes thats true, but then again some claim to be giving you these items for free, although ABS is not on all bikes, very few come without alarm/imobiliser. You could aways ask them anyway. One common problem with all of these bikes is dont expect the chinese battery to last long, most seem to get replaced inside 4 months, and TIBS give a full 12 monts warranty which covers that and relace it with a decent one, and get yourself an NGK CR7 HSA plug, as the ones fitted are no good to start with.
