hey all, here in the states you need to get a motorcycle permit if you are going to ride anything above 50cc .I took it today, it was quite easy only 20 mulitple choice questions Its good for 2 years now I can p/u my 150cc tomorrow Im totally stoked !! dmilo

Careful: here in the NorthEast states, you're only allowed to ride along side another licensed motorcycle driver when you have a learners permit. You're not allowed to go out on your own (with a >50cc) until you have the full license. You'll still get hit with a 'driving without a license' ticket if the police get involved.
ally1756: nope, for a permit you only need to take a 'written' (read: multiple choice) test. You usually have to take a driving/riding test to get the actual license. I say "usually" because we have laws up in these parts that allow you to take the motorcycle basic skills course in leu of the driving test if you already have a drivers license.

Hey , cyberconte where are you from ?? Here in Boston Ma all you need is a permitt you dont need to ride alongside anyone . dusk to dawn with no passengers is the law here. thanks all will post pics of my new scooter soon but its a beauty dmilo

Interesting... I'm in NY (state), but lived in MA a while... i thought it was the rule there as well. Goes to show, the foot always fits in the mouth!
