Hi folks, I've been following the postings on this board for a while now after I decided to purchase a Baotian and I must say what a mine of information you provide.
Anyway, took delivery of my new BT125T2 the other day and all ok so far.
However, I was under the impression that these scooters included ABS on the front brakes as standard. Have I misread something here, because I pulled hard on the front brake yesterday and the front wheel locked up and skidded.
Before I took delivery of my scooter I was using a demo model for a week or so and I was sure that that one had ABS because I deliberately tried to lock the front wheel and couldn't.
My model is slightly different to the demo I borrowed, i.e. front shocks slightly different, minor cosmetic differences, etc. but I thought the mechanicals were the same.
Can anyone throw a light on this?
Cheers, James

I bought mine from a small scooter shop in the town of Almunecar - I currently live in Spain.
ABS was one of the decisive reasons for buying this scooter so I'm very disappointed that it hasn't got it.

I'm new to scooters (and bikes in general) and I thought ABS seemed like such an obviously sensible safety feature for a bike. No probs in a car, but surely if the front wheel locks up on a bike you fall off. Or am I being excessively cautious and naive?

This scooter 'ABS' is not really as you would think. Firstly, you have another cylinder object bolted to the brake caliper, then the brake pipe goes onto that. If you aint got the cylinder you aint got ABS! This ABS is not really worth having, it may work to a point, but mine only 'pulses' but does not stop skidding or lock-ups, secondly it is not computer governed, 3rdly it is not linked to the rear. If you look at BMW bikes for example you will see a toothed ring on the wheels that drive a sensor to stop lock-ups and 'talk' between the front and rear wheels. The theory is if you use the rear brake the front will work too, and visa versa. I have ridden bikes like BMW and Honda Blackbird, and I dont like ABS on a bike, you have no control. The best and simplest system was developed by Dunlop and used on Hunter aircraft, called MAXERET, it grabbed and let go individually when it sensed a lock up. Why was'nt it developed more? Perhaps it was too simple.
