My local Plod our pulling over mopeds for speed checks. They're putting the mopeds in their van and taking them to the area Ministry testing centre where they are checking the top speeds by putting them on a speed roller table. I don't know what they do if they find a moped that exceeds 31mph.
Cheers

If they exceed the restricted speed you are liable to be fined, whether or not you or your dealer de-restricted your bike. Was it Newton who said 'every action has a reaction,? L plates = 16 +35mph= your nicked mate!

P.S. You could lose your licence too as your insurance will almost certainly be void because you are riding a bike outside your class. My personal view is 30 max and such power restriction is ludicrus, I believe they should be atleast able to produce the full unrestricted power for safety. Perhaps the 250cc limit in my day was abit over the top with the then 2 stroke Suzuki producing nearly as many horses as a 650 Triumph of the day, but this has gone too far the other way.

I agree fully with enu06 the 250 cc of our younger years was too much but this restriction is not safe. Not enough power to get out of trouble. Mine could do just under 40 before I dereistriced it anyway so how would they deal with that. I was pulled the other day for a tax disk inspection, the officer was surprised when i took off my helmet to not find a 16 year old. He then when on to compliment me about how ell i had stopped, funny old world.

I have not been pulled over on my scoot. Police around here dont seem to care about scooters. They are busy looking for speeding cars & trucks
