Right so I have paid for my bike, helmet, locks and insurance and am now eagerly awaiting it's arrival. Is there anything I should do to prepare myself for chinese scooter ownership in the week I have before it arrives?

Yes - print off the excellent guides on this site on how to de-restrict (it's easy, you don't need a dealer to do it, I have no mechanical experience at all and I done it in 10 mins), and also the posting (you'll have to search for it), on replacing the Spark Plug.
Buy yourself a NGK Spark plug on eBat (I paid £1.40 for mine) and give your new scoot a great start in life with a better plug.
Make sure you get some oil in, ready for when your scooter hits 300kms (unless you're getting this done by Baotian UK).
Other than that it;s just a waiting game - I was the same, dying for it to come !

Thank you Davros. I shall print off all the relevant guides and prepare myself for some trouble free motoring.

Other than that there's not a lot you can do - I'm sure you'll be really pleased with your BT50-9, I was really happy with mine.
They are slow at first (while running in) but get faster as you build the miles up on them.
One thing you may want to do is buy a decent Battery before you get the scooter, so you can pop it in from the start. My Battery that came with the scooter was faulted (a lot are), the Electric Start would not work with the battery, even after a full charge.
Once I installed a new (UK) battery (thanks to Ally on here who sold me it), the bike has been perfect!

Dont worry about the battery Boatian UK are very good about sorting any problems out for you. The plugs you can get from Halfords at £2.20 but wait till you do the oil change at 300, just enjoy for now. They do take a while to loosen up I would say not to a 1000 k are they running at their best. But whizzing along the coast road at about 47 mph mine was a complete joy this morning, I use my car as little as possible now. Less than £3 a week to fill up as opposed to £45 to fill up my 4x4 I am laughing all the way to the bank.

My advise is dont panic, when you get it if it dont work right away check for loose connections and such,

I have just been phoned by Baotianuk. They havent got my insurance cover note. So I phoned up my insurance company and asked where it was, the woman said they'd posted it this morning. It took them 3 days to post a bloody letter! So now my bike is most likely going to be delayed again which is inconvenient as I have just started a new job and need to get there. Sorry for the nagging but it annoyed me.

Its the same when you buy a car mate, with most insurance campanies you are just put in a que. Dont worry mine was delayed with the shippers, it will get here soon enough.

Right, so my insurance came through today, with the wrong bloody details. It says I registered the bike 12 days before I did, says I passed the test on my 16th birthday and apparently I don't smoke either. Is my bike still going to be insured even thugh some of the details are wrong? I am sick of insurance companies. Your on the phone for an hour telling them your details and they send through wrong details. Bloody Hell!!!!!!

Who the hell is your insurance broker? Not Flux (bikesure) is it? I would have a word with Baotion to see if they will accept it as is, is it done on a chassis no. or allocated registration? If its chassis no. the insurance company could refuse to insure after 10 days without negotiations, even then it can be awkward.

My dad phoned up the insurance company. They are going to amend the details at a later date but not now as I am still insured. Baotianuk recieved the covernote and its fine so Kevin from Baotian has chucked it in first class post to the DVLA in Maidstone. I shoud hopefully get it by Tuesday. What a hard job chinese scooter ownership is! I haven't even got the bike yet!
