how can i tell the difference between a 2 strote and a 4 stroke my mate has a bike i thing its a 2 but his dad thinks its a 4 and i thought i could tell by the sound but his dad said it is loud because the exhaust thanx mick any ideas

A 2 stroke engine uses oil mixed with gas to lubricate the engine. A 4 stroke engine uses a separate oil system for lubrication.

Its like the difference between a boy & girl ones got more bits than the other. A 4 stroke has valves in the head, a 2 stroke has none. Look for the oil filler in the crank case for a 4, and a seperate place to tip in oil away from the engine for a 2.
