Well, I got the Gilera and I can say is WOW ...... sheeks that thing moves!!! Fantastic acceleration when you open the throttle...
The guy showed me where to fill up the fuel, and the 2 stroke oil and the coolant, but I have one THICK questions that I forgot to ask him :
I'm hoping Andyscooter, or anyone else that knows about Runners / 2 strokes can answer these :-
- How do you know how much 2 stroke oil to put in it ?
(there doesn't seem to be a 'dipstick' method so I assume you just put a certain ratio of the oil in against the petrol ?)...
The bike came with half a tank of petrol in it but I have a can full of unleaded here, so want to fill it up - but I don't know how much 2 stroke oil to pour into the oil filler !
Thanks in advance for any help,
Dave.

Hey Dave on my 2 stroke it had a separate container for the oil and mixed it into the gas by itself.I used to just fill it up when it was low. with my oil container I was able to see into it to judge dmilo

Ah thanks for that Dmilo - I was just thinking the same thing, that if I just fill up on fuel and oil, it should look after the flow itself, as like yours, it has a seperate oil filler.
Thanks - just the reassurance I was after !

Cheers - I've got Castrol TT here, just the first one I saw in the shop but will probably get some better synthetic oil for the next fill up.
Thanks again!

Yeh I make sure mine is well topped-up, bit of a disaster if that ever runs out but you should have an oil warning light somewhere just in case. I use Shell 2 stroke advanced oil or something.

Here's a quick pic of the new Runner (but don't worry Chinese fans, the sexy black Baotian is in the background with her cover on!) The Gilera is quite a lot bigger than the BT-9 but nicely weighted, easier to sit on, and seems a touch lighter. But the BT is more relaxed to ride....

Hey F1 - yeah, there is indeed a oil warning lamp, so that's handy .... will probably top up the oil each week thought so hopefully it doesn't get down too low!

Cheers Ally - I have to be honest and say the pic makes it look slightly newer and shiny than in real life..... It's still in great condition with only 2 small scratches but at the end of the day it is a 1999 scoot!
Riding it back was a blast - took it really steady but there is one nice open stretch with a 60mph limit so I pulled the throttle back and was v. surprised how quickly it flew up to 50 ..... (backed off at 50mph - I'm not experienced enough yet to be getting too cocky on it! LOL).
My other half was in our car behind (a Golf GT TDI remapped to 180bhp) and I left it for dead!

Would you not consider getting a 125 Dmilo, when you're next able to upgrade ?
Is the law similar in the US for riding 50s versus 125s ?
Some of the Chinese 125 scoots are really nice - I was torn between getting another brand new Chinese scoot, or getting a used one ..... (the main avantage of getting a new chinese one being that there's no need to have it tested (MOT) every year here in the UK, until it's 3 years old.
But I knew this Gilera was coming with a full years MOT test, so that swung me towards it in the end! ..... 2 strokes really are noisier though - that will take some getting used to.
Your scooter looks really different to most on here (the lights, and your front mirror stalks look far thicker and better than the weedy ones of my chinese scoot) .... it's a really nice scoot and I bet it winds up nicely with the lighter rollers and the air filter.

Hey Andy - it's a Runner 125 SP ..... yeah, I've found out now it does mix the oil automatically, so have filled up both the fuel and oil.....
I have sent you a PM asking what Coolant you use, and how often you top up the coolant level .... #cheers#

I'd advise you not to go over 50mph, even though it might do more at a push I don't think it does the engine any good. My friend boasted about being able to do 65mph on his 50cc bike but it only lasted about a month before needing a rebuild!

It's a 125cc bike not a 50, it will go a lot faster than 50mph!... and the engine isn't straining. It's restricted to 65mph, if these Runners are derestricted they will do up to 75mph but I( have no desire to go that fast, ever on a scooter LOL !
