message boards posts (Mark)Does it matter if a replacement stator coil plate has a single coil or a dual coil? My geely JL50QT-18 had a problem with the stator coils, so when I went to get a replacement the rude guy brought out this one that had only one, larger coil. Much different than the one that came off of the scooter. I had the old one with me, he saw it and told me that the one he had for sale was for a four-stroke. I'm not sure if that is what is causing weak spark/poor performance, but it would be helpful to eliminate the possibility.
(reply)Mark, I would say that if the facotry stator had two coils the replacement should also have two coils.
(Mark)the scooter is running with the new stator, but I dont know if the ocurring problems are related to the repair. Im thinking that the problem is probably in fuel delivery, but the new magneto is not putting out as much juice as the old one did. By the way, the original stator coils damage was caused by the person who owned the scooter before I evidently snapped off the end of the spark plug while trying to remove it, and lost the small piece of the plug with the steel nipple in it-down into the flywheel area. The scooter sat for several months before I brought it back to life via carb cleaning, new plug, new batt, etc. The piece of spark plug somehow eluded any mishap for over 800 miles when the magnets attracted it into the stator coil area, tearing up copper windings.
(Mark...)does anyone have any concrete facts about these magneto differences?
It seems that the stator plate with 1 single low voltage coil does not put out the juice that the stator with 2 low volt coils.(the coils with tape wrapped around them). that is the only differece that I could find, they both work, but the single coil stator will not keep the batt. charged if the lights are on, with the lights off the battery charges up fine(this seems to be a common problem with many scooters). The dual coil stator plate seemed to perform better.

hi, i have the same problems, i won a taishan z2 2 stroke from ebay, but it was a non starter. started looking round and found the stator coil in bits, seems the bolts holding it in place had broke and ripped the coil to bits, i'm looking for a replacement, but the only 2 online shops i have found that stock these are in USA. where did you buy yours from? please.
