Hi, right i previously posted a message about my indicators and i just cant figure it out at all. ill explain from the beginning and ill tell you what ive tried etc. Got me bike indicators worked, but no left rear indicator, thought maybe the bulb had gone in transit, took the cover off swapped the working bulb with the faulty bulb and funnily enough the bulb that wasnt working is now working, but still no life on the left hand side. now when you take the bulb out theres a little plastic washer to hold the wire from the bulb to the bike together in the non working side this has smashed n bits so i fashioned another one, put it back and still nothing. So i thought id swap the bulbs back to how they where and let someone i know take a look, i swapped em back tried the lights again and this time they came on (still no life in left hand side) BUT they wernt flashing, shortly after that they went out completly, now when i try the indicators nothing happens whatsoever. and i cant figure out what it could be!!!!!!! faulty switch , maybe loose wire to the switch. other thing is when the indicators were working the light on the dash worked and now thats dead as well. please please help, any experts in these id pay cash to see if someone can fix it, ive just got it registered got my CBT on monday so dont wanna be off the road (((((( and i guess i cant go on the roads with no indicators

Hi ya
The indicators wont flash unless both bulbs are in and working - so if you turn the indicators on and one bulb lights but does not flash, then the other bulb is likely blown.
If the non lighting bulb is OK check the connector - they are not very well made, and check all the plugs to be sure one has not come unplugged.
Also check the black wire from the indicator is earthed somewhere. The bikes have so much plastic that can be a problem.
I would guess that if none of your indicators are now working that either your battery is flat, or you have blown a fuse.
Good luck and good luck with your test.

its not your fuse, check all the coonections, spray a bit of wd40 in the connections, and if still no joy then you need to start thinkign about the little indicator box thing under the panel, cant remember what its called relay or sumething

ok, i got someone who knows something about electrics coming monday, ill check then, its not the fuse, okay stupid question if it all was working (all bar this 1 left hand indicator) then it stops and theres no life out the switch, no life on the dash when i turn um on and no life in the lights, possible loose wire on the switch? possible unearthed wire by the bulb, anything else obvious?

OK.. Heres goes the full check list for ya - based on my scoot.
1. The indicators, position lamp, and instrument lamp all share the same earth. If they are all not going the earth is likely to be at fault.
2. Each of the indicators is fed from the switch on the handlebars.
3. The switch on the handlebars is fed from the flasher relay.
4. The flasher relay is fed from the IGN switch.
5. The IGN switch is fed from the fuse next to the battery.
So, Fault find in reverse order....
Check the fuse. On my scoot the bike and headlights go even if this fuse is F'd, but the horn requires the fuse to be in.
So toot the horn to check the fuse.
This also checks the IGN switch as they share the same circuit.
If fuse is OK then go to the flasher relay.
It has two terminals, unplug it and replace it with a short length of wire.
If the indicators now glow but don't flash, the flasher relay is faulty.
If only some of the indicators glow, the bulbs or wires to those indicators are stuffed.
Have fun !
Dave
