hi guys, new here, just bought a baotian 50-qt 9 scooter and for some reason the indicators do not flash, they do light up but wont flash as they are supposed to... im thinking its probably the relay or whatever they are called, anybody any ideas on this or where the relay is located? thanks very much

Cant be much, make sure all of the connectors are plugged in properly, front and back, and on the cannister, if that don't work ask your dealer for a new relay under warranty.

gazza.
The flaher unit is a small black plastic cylinder with (i think) 3 wires coming out of it and heading up to your indercator control. It's probably buried under the front plastics. Try tracing the wires from the indercator switch down and see where they head off to.

Actually on the qt-9 im 99% sure that it is under the front plastic panel.

hey rusty, really fast reply and thanks for that...........yep i now see it under the front cover, actually looks a little similiar to an ignition barrel (ish) and when i disconnected the 3 wired plug the indicators went off, plugged it back in and indicators came back on but dont flash still at all. so i assume the cannister is broken unless theres a bad wire going to one of the indicators and that would stop them flashing, although i doubt this is the case as the indicators do come on but just dont flash... i shall have to try and buy a new one for it unless its actually covered by warranty. sshall have to look into where i can buy one from...... thank you lots, gaz

I said 'cannister' as I thought you may not recognize a relay, but you found it any way. As they light up the electricity is getting to the bulbs so your connections are o.k, so it has to be the cannister, or relay if you prefer. I have my spare in my hand, it looks as though you could take it apart by carefully prising the bottom out of the cylinder, ( the metal ring on the top does nothing) inside you will see a set of points that open and shut, you could reset these, and it should work. Be prepared to tape up the cannister after, as the plastic is brittle.

hi enu06, yes i now understand why you call it cannister, thanks for your reply concerning it, i have contacted the dealer and as yet awaiting a reply, apparantly its covered for 12month (parts only) so i assume the cannister is covered by it (hopefully) if that fails i shall try opening it up to see if it can be sorted... not in no immediate rush as its not even registered with dvla as yet but it shall be shortly and obviously i needed to check everything on the bike was working as it should, thanks again guys.... gaz
