Okay so a friend of mine has just bought one of these on the argos £899 deal.
First day she got it it seemed fine, took it out for a run and all of a sudden it started to like slow down (after just a few miles) - she hasn't been ragging it or anything.
Now it will only do 20 mph and if you pull the throttle back any further than like 1/2 open it loses power straight away. There is a general loss of power feeling all the time anyway - oh and it won't go up any hills at all.
been on the phone to argos (and manufacturers) and they say that it will "sort itself out" after a few hundred K's - I'm sceptical as I've ridden a fair few scooters and never seen anything like this before.
with only 170kms on the clock, it's slightly worrying!!
Can anyone help or point us in the right direction? sorry if this thread's in the wrong place.
Cheers,
hantsbay

I take it you have changed the spark plug for an NGK.

hehe well there's been another problem today...
The bike was left for c. 2 hours and then when Anne came back to the bike it was completely dead electrically (i.e. no lights, no electric start, no gauges). It wouldn't kick start either.
I collected the bike in the van and then brought it home and left it for a while - then it eventually kick started, but all the electronics are now malfunctioning (i.e. indicators and buzzer running too fast, horn makes high pitched noise)
Should we just reject this or do you think it is a result of the other problem?
Thanks guys,
Phil

Argos have taken the money and sold your friend the bike, they are liable under the sale of goods act, if you are unhappy with what Starway say then it may fall under the heading of 'goods sold not fit for the purpose', and you should be entitled to either the machine being fixed to a roadworthy, usable condition, or a refund. It is not like the ebay auctions, or though they may try to say they are not responcible for things that they are. Be carefull as to what you actually do your-self, they could say that you are at fault, personally I would get Argos/Starway to resolve the situation, you have no need to do anything. Best to get onto your local trading standards office for more advise and support, but DO NOT dismantle or do any thing until specifically advised. Good luck.
