i tried to use a friends honda cdi box as it is a unrestricted race one from a honda 50cc, the plug was the same so i put it in mine and he similarly put my standard cdi in his honda. when he tried starting his, the electrics didnt work and one of the 2 fuses blew, but it starts with a kick.
mine however even after replacing the origional cdi it wont start, but is tring to... i am going to try and change spark plug to ngk tomorrow, but is it safe to asume the problem is the cdi?
sha;ll i buy a new cdi... or is it something else....thanks

you might've just flooded it with (presumably) several attempts to get it going with the race cdi......if not then you've probably fried yours by plugging it into the honda, which sounds more likely.......

i yes i have checked the spark, by connecting a seperate plug to the coil and touching it against the metal and tring to start. there is no spark. i spoke to a guy that sells parts and he is adiment that the cdi is the fault. i have read the relevant threads and tried re connecting all wires etc, it seems logical that the cdi needs replacing. thanks all for helping.
when i recieve i will let you know the outcome in case it helps any future probs ....cheerz

How many times will people do stuff like that... I swapped it with a mates CDI on a totally different bike but the plug looked the same so thought it would be ok?? Bike was probably a X8R or SFX50 i guess?? As they look identical to the chinese ones... problem is... Hondas are 2 stroke 50s... yours is a 4 stroke. Thank god for fuses or who knows what damage might have happened! ;D
