Try changing the crappy plug it comes with for a good quality spark plug like an NGK. It made a difference to the starting with my scoot.

Also try not turning the throttle until it fires up, when pressing the starter button.

ngk plug is deffinatly worth getting it turn over alot better
if the electric start is not turning the engine over it could be one or more of the following
bad electric starter moter loose connection causing low power to starter battery drained to low voltage or bad battery
firstly i'd check under the front pannel wiggle all the block connectors about make sure there all pushed in right

Thanks, I was skeptical about if a new NGK plug would make a difference with starting, but I bit the bullet and bought one today, (after 800km with the Chinese plug). My Baotian was taking some time to fire up when starting from warm, but started brilliantly from cold. Initial tests now show a great improvement with starting

A new plug (NGK/Champion etc) will certainly help with ignition, but won't make any difference to "turning over". glad yours is starting better gavin. Rob, (whos engine IS turning over) I still think you're valves need adjusting, they're probably tight......

it starts much easyer with the ngk plug is clearly what i ment cb50j After changing to the NGK plug yesterday, my Baotian has started beautifully every time today. Before, when starting from warm, I was always concerned that it might not start, (but it always did, eventually). Now that the NGK plug is fitted, I am confident of it starting every time.

#WTF# "clearly" nothing....rob did say his scoot was turning over, why would you need to start taking panels off and "wiggling things" worrying about a starter that's obviously ok.....read the posts properly before delivering irrelevant information that just leads to confusion
exactly gavin....just trying to make things a lil bit clearer for rob......better spark plug , better spark= better ignition.........

Can anybody help me? My electric start is turning but only engages for a shot time not enough to start I thought it might be sticking? so was thinking about taking it off and putting some grease on the spring. I have not yet changed plug but now I have read this I will

Most probably the battery needs charging or there is a bad connection.
