There is no 'tap' as such, the fuel flow is controlled by vacuum, thats why the petrol does not overflow, there is a diaphram underneath the tank, if you lift the seat and remove the 6 bolts holding the seat tub on and lift it off you will easily see the tank, follow the 2 pipes and you will find the diaphram unit. It is very unlikely this is the cause of your problem. Look through the forums on this sight and you will see instuctions on how to take the carb off, and adjust your idle screw, also your air screw, turn this all the way in, (count how many turns as you do it) then turn it out to approx 2 - 21/2 turns, you may get away with a bit less, say 11/2 - 2. Also, get yourself a decent spark plug, NGK CR7HSA to replace the Chinky one, they are not very reliable. It may be worth looking to see that neither if the rubber pipes from the tank to the carb are kinked, trapped or spilt while your there. Also, as you can get to every thing, spray all the electrical components you can see with damp start to weather seal the wet out, not forgetting your HT lead and coil, it may save you some problems later. If you look on top of the tank you will see a gold coloured collar, spread a pair of open pliers across and undo, you will now finf the petrol guage sender unit. If your guage says you have petrol but you can see into the tank WITH A TORCH (no lighters or matches!!) and its almost or empty, theres your problem solved. To fixthe guage carefully bend the wire holdin the float upwards , but not too much, you may have to do this several time to get yor guage to read accuratly, teadiuos, but worth the trouble. If you STILL cant find the trouble come back to us and someone else may be able to help. Good luck.

Sorry, forgot - choke. It is electricautochoke, and can be found on the side of the carb, it looks a bit like a spark plug cap looking up at you, you problem could be here, but as I know nothing about the devises, its probably best to ask billy green or ginger phil, the have written about this in the forum.
