Cold starting with electric start

Since fitting a new battery, I have been testing out cold starting using the electric start.

If I turned the throttle before pressing the start button, the engine would turn over, but really struggle to fire up. I have now found that if I do not touch the throttle at all, just turn the ignition key, and press the start button, I get reliable first time starting, so if anyone is having trouble cold starting, try this method.
