Hi guys,
I'm praying one of you can help me here. We bought a Boatian BT50 for my son from Trade Imports on Ebay and we've had nothing but trouble with it.
Lately, it got blown over in high winds and the crankcase cover broke leaving the exhaust floating about at the back end. After searching about on the net I found ABM bikes and bought a new crankcase cover.
I started taking the bike apart today to fit it, which all seems easy enough but I can't get the alternator off the bike? I've got the large center nut off but the alternator itself is still tight on. I've removed as many of the crankcase cover nuts as I can too as I thought I may be able to get this off and then get the alternator seperated from it but I can't get to all the nuts without taking the alternator off! Its driving me up the wall and any help would be really appreciated.
Many thanks Grant

hold the crank shaft on the other side using the variator nut to keep it held! Then you should be able to remove that nut!
or buy an impact wrench

I think Argos are selling impact wrenches for £16.99 reduced from around £25.

I've got the nut off on the center of the alternator if thats the one you mean hypojam? It wasn't easy to move it but it came away eventually. There doesn't seem to be anything else actually holding the alternator on but still it wont budge. It seems that tight I was wondering if there was anything else that held it on? Or is just a case of trying to prise it off now?

Surely it's not will-power holding it on? Are you sure you've removed every nut & bolt? If you have then I guess brute force is needed. #hammer#

Its so tight I'm scared to try and force it off. I've tried to gently lever it off but there's no movement at all. Certainly cant see any other nuts holding it on and looking at the new part to go on I doubt there is anything else unless the top part of the alternator can come away and there is anything underneath?

In the manual, it seems to suggests stripping down and working on the alternator whilst it is in situ, could this be a clue as to why you can't remove it

The flywheel is a taper fit on the crankshaft and you need a flywheel puller like this one to remove it. I have had this one several years and it fits most japanese bikes, should fit a chinese one as the engines are supposed to be based on jap ones

Should be a tight fit but as long as the woodruff key is in and nut tight it will be ok

Hello again. Still having problems with this and its driving me up the wall, any help really appreciated. This is the bit I cant get off: It looks like the flywheel puller above would take it off but the one I bought during the week doesn't fit it. I bought a 27mm which is too big. Can anyone shed any light on removing this and if I do need the puller, what size am I looking to get? Many thanks in advance.

Can you measure the size of the thread?

Finally got it removed, 24mm puller required. Michael at ABM bikes was the man with the info. Many thanks for all the advice guys!
