Hi anyway out there like to give this 52 year old some advice. Am thinking about getting a 50 cc scooter for my 10 mile round trip to work. Having found these cheap bikes on E bay the question is are they worth it (it would seem not if you look at the comments on other scooter sites). If they are, which one should I get, I am 6' 3" tall so I need one I can be comfortable on and fit on. The two models I like are the Baotian 50QT-9H or the retro BT50Q-11. Any advice would be much appreciated. Also since several folks are selling them on E bay, do I just go for the cheapest or does one stand out has better than the others. Thanks and nice site by the way. Rob

Yep, whole heartedly agree, easy & fun to ride, excellent little bike, pay £400 and do all the admin yourself. #thumbs_up#

Thanks guys, It looks a nice bike and I think can be had for £399 on e bay. But will I fit, that what bike review on the home page implies they are only good for short guys or have I got it wrong. I am in Brighton by the way, so if I get one and fall off pleases be kind when passing ;D

I'm 5" shorter than you & fit just fine, but bear in mind It's a two seater & my butt is nowhere near the rear rack.
Best find one in a car park & sit on it. I f the owner comes back, pretend you're a retard & make brumm brumm noises.

Ok I think thanks to all your help this is the one to go for. Any thoughts on who to get it from, the three main ones on E bay seem to be "comeuk" £435, "K14RLW" £399, "woodchips35" £499. All the deals are a little different! Lastly new to this that i am I see that Lidl have a nice looking helmet at £19.99 or is it better to splash out on a full face one. Thanks again for all your help. Rob

It would be best to get a full face one just in case you fall off or have an accident but I do see a few scooterists wearing a half-face one. Its up to really.

If your prepared to do the admin work yourself (registration etc), and prepared for some assembly when it arrives, then go for pretty much who you want on ebay (K14RLW sounds as good as any) I would avoid 'Woodchip35'.
If you want to pay a little extra and have one delivered fully registered, Taxed, built and tested there are a couple to choose from 'The internet bike shop' or 'www.boatianUK.com

Interesting about woodchips they sent back the most helpfull note to my questions. However I guess it will be Karl14rwl had he is the cheapest and Ally says he is ok. I will look at the other sites Billy Green mentioned but I expect it pushes the price up. My worry is how do I get it serviced in Brighton?

u can really do it yourself theres not much to it just a spark plug and some oil in the engine and the transimission bay, cost u a tenner max to do it but u can still get them serviced in some garages ally
