Hi!! I have had my new scooter for nearly 4 months now and I love it but its a bit of a devil! I think it may be jinxed (admittedly part my fault - leaving it in central london all day with the keys in the seat lock is not the fault of the bike ) Anyway, it's not very good at starting , I hold the rear break, turn the rev handle and press the little red button and 8 times out of 10 it just makes a grinding noise and won't turn over. Is it just because its v cold at the moment? I don't want to ruin it! I have sent it back to the guy that sold it to me and he has checked it over and says its fine. Is anyone else having any problems? I probably won't know any techy words but any advice/experience would be gratefully received. Aside from that - aren't scooters brilliant!! I love it and clocked up nearly 250k in my first weekend (I didn't even know there were 250k in London) This website is a godsend!!

Hi, and welcome. Glad to see another new scooter rider! It sounds like a part called the 'Bendix' is sticking. It's a part inside engine, behind the left hand engine cover. It's the small cog above the big one in this picture.

I'd reckon that's a combination of sticking bendix and a low battery, once you're scooter's warmed up it's far easier to start and the battery can then cope with the lighter demand. I've had a bit of bother with tick over after starting,it does take mine a while.I've just been blaming the climate and guessing the automatic choke does'nt work(?).......I just don't even bother starting mine until I'm ready to go wherever I'm going, start up,keep engine running for as long as can be bothered waiting then go.............. #sprint#
