Hello everybody, I'm new on this forum, so i'll introduce myself. I'm Mark, i live in Holland and I own an Baotian BT49QT3. Origianally this scooter runs about 30km/u. In Holland we call it a 'snorscooter'. I've derestricted it at some points and now it runs about 53 km/u (about 30 miles/hour) It runs quit good, only problem is the electrical start. Sometimes it won't start electrial, especially when it hasn't run for a couple hours. The kickstart is the solution in this case. I think I have to adjust the valves. The scooter has run app.400 km. I've changed the motor oil and the gear oil. From the factory it is very bad adjusted I experienced. So the next thing I'll do is adjust the valves. greetings from Holland....

Hello Mark When starting from cold, try turning the ignition key to the on position, and then wait about 30 seconds before pressing the start button, this gives the electrically operated choke time to warm up.

Hi Gavin, I'll try that! It occured to me that the scooter was starting very good when it was freezing a couple of days ago (electric start). Now it is very wet in Holland, maybe because of moist it starts badly (electric). So i'll spray the cap of the sparkplug and the cable. Maybe that helps too. I'll try your suggestion later today en let you know! greets mark

Hi Gavin, I tried it too, but it wouldn't start on the electrical start. I think it's a moist problem.... if the weather is dry and the baotian is dry too, I'll spray the cap of the spark plug and the sparkcable. I also will adjust the valves in a copple of days. On a German Forum they tell that this causes bad starting too. ( ecobike.m8z.de/phpBB2/index.php )

It will be interesting to know if the valve adjustments make a difference, keep us informed. I have just had a look at the German Forum, but all I could see was funny writing, is it in code?

Haha, we from Holland can read that code.....just like english, that code we can read too....... there are pretty good instructions/manuals on that forum as well, even in more details as on this forum. Especially about derestricting....... You'll have to give us some tips then!!

If I have a little time, I'll try to translate some manuals from the Germans and put them on this forum
