Where do I start. Spend most of my life on the PC, but have never posted a message on a forum till this evening. I've bought a great looking BT50QT-9 for my girlfriend (and for me to play on). Picked it up on ebay for only 399, and put it together last week. Just got all the reg stuff back today and have had a little try. Seems OK but it's dog slow, and can't manage hills here in High Wycombe. (Have posted a help add on with the engine section). I found this site while looking for advise on insurance and it saved me over 130 quid. The first quote I got was around 280 (MCE), but then I tried eBike and got a great deal at around 150. Thanks all. I was also able to double check on my bike assembly, all seems to be OK, though I don't have the thick bit of plastic to go under the top box. It fixes OK wihtout but does get a little twisted as it's beening pulled in the middle by the screws. Will try the bike shop to see if these bits can be bought loose. Best Regards All, Scott

I've travelled through High Wycombe ever since i was a wee lad, no dual carriageways way back then!!!!...never understood why they didn't call it Low Wycombe. I think a 50cc may have been a bad choice in your area. Have a look at the rest of the forum and you will find the derestriction stuff, that will make it go faster but not perhaps up hills like you have. Derestricted tp speed will depend on your size. I could get 40 MPH but i'm a big lad, other more skinny people can get 45.
Good luck....they are great fun....

Still not too sure what 4 gramme rollers are, but they get loads of mentions through the site. I'm 11 stone (75kg) and my good lady is 8 stone (50kg). I would not have thought us too heavy for a 50cc on hills. I've also seen kids scooting around on their scooters managing fine.

Welcome aboard fella!! These Chinese scooters are notorious for being slow up hills, all these other scooters you see flying up hills definitely aren't Chinese - they're probably Peugeots. ;D You can buy lighter rollers from a few shops, send a private message to Hypojam or BillyGreen1973 and they'll give you all the advice you need to know or start a new topic in The Garage section. There's loads of topics about rollers on this forum but you'll just get confused trying to remember everything.

Thanks all the for the help. I've added a couple of washers to the carb pin, and that seems to have helped a little. It didn't like it when I removed the brass screw from under the cover lid, so I've left that in place after a few trials.
As mentioned I will look further into the rollers, but for the moment I want my other half to get used to useing it. She took it out today for the first proper time and slid over on a roundabout with it. She's fine, I've not seen the bike yet. May well be lookng into where you get new panels from soon though.
Cheers, Scott

It's not a good time of year to learn to ride a scooter. #oops# Your dead right there! I just popped out to the local ASDA, to get a couple of things, and going round a round about the front wheel slipped out from under me!! I didn't actually come off, but I did have to put a foot down going round the round about. A brown trouser moment I can tell you!! Just goes to show though, how easy it is for things to get out of control!!

The exact same thing happened to me on the way to work yesterday and funnily enough it was right next to Asda in Great Yarmouth.

Thanks, it's good to hear that others are suffering the same problems. I guess with the scooter having less than 30 km on it the tyres are still a bit shiney too. There's a few little scratches on the side, but genrally the bike looks ok. Katerina's fine and her gear and helmet is fine too, so all in all it'll be OK.
I'll wait a little longer before changing those rollers though.
Cheers, Scott
