cheers m8, surely a jinlun instrument panel can be robbed of it's rev counter, or get an old one from a scrapyard, negative earth 12v guages will work on any 12v neagative earth engine, same as a car really (certified mini freak here)

hi neily glad you like the jinlun, ther're brill little scoots, I've bought one for my wife and and daughter to use to save wear and tear on the car, transport doesnt get much cheaper, but having tinkered with mine for the best part of a week I'm impressed, this forums pretty good too, I concur on the rollers, I bought some from beedspeed, (3.6gms) they make it accerate like a 2 stroke, but doesnt give you higher topend just higher revs, I've made a modification to the carb that seems to work, I have the needle on the bottom setting and I've made a 1/16 of and inch plastic washer that i've put under it on top of the rubber seal, this seems to have gained me about 5mph (about 40 on the flat and even 35 2 up) long live chinese scooters

Hey bobian81
did your jinlun have a speed ring in the drive pulley, also does it have the 'Pink Wire'?

I reckon the carb was the main thing, theres def no slip ring on the variatior drive belt though, i've had it in bits several times, those argos impact wrenches are brill

i got it for £127 from ebay, tax had ran out but thats hardly expensive now is it lol
the brass screw wasn't there the seller said that the dealer removed it as it was the only way it would run in the uk, ngk plug was already in there too, i bought a new one before checking it and the shop gave me bosch equivalent which didn't even spark so taking it back
i was having to slow down this morning so as not to go into the back of the cars in front but without a speedo i have no clue
also i seem to have a flat spot as i twist the throttle all the way it goes right up then the engine dips down and slowly builds back up to a max of 7200 on the flat
thanks for the tip bob, i am going to fiddle with the carb at the weekend when i got time to test the differences, oils are being changed then too so should be nippy as hell by sunday

"also i seem to have a flat spot as i twist the throttle all the way it goes right up then the engine dips down and slowly builds back up to a max of 7200 on the flat" I had a power flat spot like what you describe there. On mine it was where the transmission was gearing up too quickly causing it too lose revs. But lighter rollers fixed that ;D I haven't had a working speedo for over 8 months now due to a broken cable;D Even when it did work it was way off, reading 40 when i was doing about 25

nice one hypojam, i will fiddle with the carb at the weekend and then probably phone beedspeed on monday
i know that if i take the throttle 3/4 of the way round then slowly take it up to full there is no flat spot
