I collected a BAOTIAN BT 50 QT-11 yesterday that my wife had purchased off E-Bay! The bike is only 3 months old and when I collected it the owner started up first time with no problems. Then today I managed to do the same. However, this evening when my wife came home I tried starting it, but it would not fire. I left it for a few seconds and tried again, but nothing happened. My wife then tried severell times, but we cannot get it started at all. The battery seems fine as the indicators are working to full strength. I have tried the kick-start, but I keep getting it caught in the stand. Can anyone help?

It sounds like you are trying to start the scooter on the side stand.
The scooter has a safety feature that stops the engine starting when the side stand is down, this is because the back wheel is on the floor and the bike could shoot forward if started on the side stand.
Put the bike on the centre stand and try starting with the throttle half way.
Let me know how you go #thumbs_up#

Tried that. It is not firing at all. In fact it sounds as if the starter motor is just turning, but not engaging. Any ideas?

The first thing I would check for, is to make sure the side stand is properly up. The bike will turn over even if the stand is down, it just won't start.
Second I would check the vaccuum pipe that goes to the fuel pump, if it's broken or disconected then no fuel will be allowed to the engine.
You could also check the simple things, ie. fuel level, pull brake lever fully when starting, etc. sounds daft but could be easily overlooked

The vaccuum pipe goes from the inlet manifold, on the engine, to the fuel valve under the fuel tank.
Download the service manual from this forum, the parts are shown in there.
I will try and post a picture of the pipe and valve tomorrow

This may seem a bit of a numb nuts question, but how do you kick start? Don't worry chap, I always used to have trouble. Put the bike on the centre sand, hold in one of the brake levers, pull the throttle back about halfway then try the kickstart. It may take a few goes though....
