Hi welcome, to this great forum. You got a real bargain! I think the £227 that MCE want aint that bad if its fully comp. Don't worry about the excess, if I was in your situation and needed to make a complete loss claim, I wouldn't bother, I'd just buy a new bike, they are cheap enough and it wouldn't effect future insurance policies because you havn't claimed. I suppose these bikes are almost desposable! That said, they are great bikes and great fun to ride. Get yourself the service manual FREE from the links section on this forum. Happy scootering

Thanks for the advice but too late unfortunately! I already claimed and they paid out (Zenith via Bennetts - they were superb!) I think I will just have to bite the bullett and remember that I was lucky to get the bike so cheaply so will have to pay up for the insurance. That MCE quote was for TPFT by the way. Might be worth trying for a TP only quote to see what difference that makes - like you say, these bikes are virtually disposable!

I'm with KGB through Bennetts, and I pay £104 TP only, I have Zero 'No claims' and ride on a full car liscence, but I've never made a claim against motor insurance, and I am 32 years old

Cheers guys! I will definitely give Bennetts a bell tomorrow - have had enough for today. Especially as I have a stinking cold and throbbing headache! Get the violins out!

Hey all! Been following the board for a couple of weeks now... thought it was about time I said something! So hello! Have to say that this forum has been invaluable to me since I got my little Baotian (retro style). Thanks guys. Stellabird - have you tried eBike insurance ( www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk ) ? They were the cheapest for me by far. I'm riding on my car license, but had a CBT that I used on 125's for 2 years (which has now expired). I'm 23 and they quoted me £82 TPO and £110 TPFT. Might be worth a go...

Welcome Thalamus! And thanks for the advice - I tried ebike and you were right! They were by far the cheapest - £139 TP only or £185 TPFT, no excess on either! I know who I shall be going with!
