Phew! What a releif it was to find this site - and thanks to Phil for having the foresight for setting this up - you're an absolute star! I am soon to take my CBT, and am confident that I'll pass it. I do not as yet have a moped, but once I've taken the CBT, I am very interested in purchasing a Baotion BT125T-2 125cc. Problem is, I cant find any information on them and have loads of questions, such as reliability, running costs, servicing costs, insurance, registration, etc. I was thinking of purchasing it via ebay from 'the internet bike shop' in Watford, for £699 plus £95 delivery. Anyone ever dealt with these fellas? Or maybe someone knows of a place I could get one a bit cheaper? I've seen 50cc's on offer for much less, but I know I'd feel frustrated chugging along at 30mph (I can go faster than that on my pushbike lol) and wonder how easy it would be to derestrict a bike, being a total novice? I know very little about mopeds and would very much appreciate any advice on offer. Ta very much! > >

Welcome aboard, good to have you here!! A few members have bought Baotians from the internet bike shop so you should be OK, a good thing about them is they'll register the bike for you which will take a lot of hassle away from you. As for derestricting it is possible and people have done it just by following the guides on this forum.

Hi Dollparts
welcome not taken my CBT either yet (next Wednesday) but I have bought a BT125 from Pitbikes4All in Newark Notts. Not reg yet as the CoC was missing and as yet they have not been able to get it to me. Though Nick at pitbike has been very helpful. I paid £690 incl delivery. I am very pleased with the bike and it started more or less straight away and though it hasn't moved since I bought it 3 wks ago it still starts immediately.

Hi, your CBT will be very straight forward. You don't need lessons before hand. The CBT takes about 2-3 hours, and the first part will be in a playground, car park etc. learning how to handle your bike, i.e. turn left/right, emergency stop, road position etc. Then you will be taken out on the road in a small group with an examiner at the front and one at the back of the group, and you will ride round for an hour or so, and the examiners will be checking you've understood and are doing what you practiced in the playground. Quite simple really, I don't know anyone who has failed! You just need to remember to pay attention and concentrate for a couple of hours and then thats you sorted for 2 years!
