Can anyone answer these questions.... I have a new scooter with the QMB-139 engine....and plan to de-restrict it by putting a free flow air cleaner and a high performance CDI unit on it. There was no spacer on the front pulley so I figured that is all I may do for now, hopefully it makes it run a little faster. My question is what do I do about the air hose running from the air filter to the front of the engine? Also will I need to make any adjustments on the carb? re-jet it or just increase the fuel mix?

Before you do any thing, the scooter needs to be run in first Leave it stock for the first 500kms. The exception to this rule is the spark plug & oil change these immediately.Leave the hose alone-it is supposed to be there. If you put in a free flow filter you will need to put in a bigger jet. There is some debate about which size is perfect. There is also some debate on whether high performange CDI's are worth anything. No need to post things more than once. I removed the other 3.

I am sure that someone will chime in with the best jet size. Take a look at the "Upjetting a carb" thread in this section.

Hi, Welcome aboard!
I have a free flow filter, and am using a size 90 carb main jet. I find that gives best performance. I've also been using a 'Race CDI' for 2 months now and to be honest, I can't tell the difference!!
Hope that helps

i'd not bother with freeflow or the jet yet
get lighter rollers once bikes run in

Prob wont make the scoot go much faster unless you have like 8g rollers in at the moment but scoot will accelarate better afterwards at least

u need to make a splash guard if u put an aftermarket filter on cos the water from the back wheel wets the filter. the breather pipe can just be disconnected and pointed at the ground. remove the screw from the inside of the carb top hat. changing rollers makes the ride worse. cdi's are a waste of money. use a 90ish main jet.

A Big Mahalo (Thank You) to all of you who have responded! So far I just changed the spark plug to a NGK and added a K&N free flow air filter. I do have a question about the carb, some have mentioned removing a screw on the inside of the carb top in another section it says to move the retainer ring to the middle position of the needle and others mentiond re-jetting the carb do I need to do all three? what will give it a higher top end and quicker take off? thanks

lighter rollers give more take off, heavier rollers higher top speed
but for these scoots you want to go lighter around 5g often this will improve both top end and accel
bigger jet should give more power not sure tho

Things that have helped.... Free Flow Air Cleaner (K&N), NGK Spark Plug, Re-jet carb, New Race CDI. It now runs faster, starts easier, and faster take off. The biggest improvement was CDI and Free Flow Air Cleaner, Re-Jet carb also made big improvement on take off and top end. Now does 40+ Still looking for high performance exhaust. Anyone know where to get a HP Exhaust for this engine? thanks...

Has anyone done an engine swap? What would it take to swap in a 125/150cc into my Sukida 50cc chassis?
