Exactly, people dont look after them, the speedos read in miles or kilometers/ when should you change the oil.

The speedo is in kilometers. If you have bought the scooter from new, change the oil firstly at 300kms and then at 1000kms intervals, also don't forget to change the gear oil at 300kms and then intervals of 5000kms.

It's amazing what I've learned through this forum. My bike probably would have fallen to pieces evetually if it wasn't for here.

my bikes done just over 3000 miles with regular engine and gear oil changes and it is running perfectly. it must be lack of maintenace. when i bought my bike i was told that the engines were based on yamaha.

I think the key is regular oil changes. Can I also suggest that you buy some Silkolene Pro FST. You put a tiny amount into the petrol tank each time you top up with fuel. It does away with cold starting problems especially carb icing (handy on those chilly mornings or if the bike has been standing for a few days) and also helps prevent engine wear and fuel system corrosion. It costs about £7.00 for a 1 litre bottle which lasts for months. I use it in the Honda all year around, and so far I've done almost 7000 trouble free miles.

Hi Phil, if your asking can you use Silkolene Pro FST on a 4 stroke then yes you can, that's what mine is.

Yep that's what I wanted to know. So is it proved to work or just a theory of yours as I can't say I've heard of anyone else putting oil in the fuel tank of a 4 stroke engine.
