Hi folks! wonder if someone could please help. My Sons moped has done about 500km, he now rekons after about half an hour he loses all power and the moped goes to a crawl. Could this be overheating?? or!! i had a quick look to see if it was de-restricted and may have lost a washer having a look. I have looked in the carb and all i can see is one tiny washer at the bootom of the well, where the thin needle slots in. I have looked at the pdf manual but it is not clear. Have i lost a washer? and if so can someone please give me a link that shows clearly where the washers go, may thanks!

Thanks m8! ive already seen that picture, that washer is still on the pin in the middle groove. I meant a rubber washer which i can only see one which is at the bootom of the carb where the needle goes into!

that's where it's meant to be(as far as I know).......possibly worth looking at the tappets, if you've not already done them,it might help.......

Thanks again for the reply, i thought that was where the rubber washer went. I am not technicaly minded to do any thing else. The bike seems to run fine, it sounds great, starts firt time, but! after 30-40mins running it dies, could this be overheating?

I'm not sure (would'nt think so), does the fan on the right hand side spin when the scooter's running? I'm afraid I don't know of any other reason why overheating would occur......these scooters don't appear to have any overheating problems that I've heard of.......hopefully someone more qualified will be able to help..........sorry I can't be of any more help...........

The fan is bolted to the fly wheel, it must be truning or you would hear the fan rattle around in it's cover!!
It sounds like the valve clearances for sure, check my guide in the 'Hints and tips' section

Hi again, just an after thought! would it really be valve clearances if the bike is brand new, its only done about 500km?

Running weak would also cause over-heating, chech air screw by scewing it right in then turning it out to about 21/2 times.

don't think it's likely to be mixture.......

its not overheating its just dying because the valves arent timed right once its warm, the point in the valve clearence is to allow for thermal expansion

enu06 is right in what he says.
If the mixture is weak the engine will run hotter, this means more expansion on the tappets and valve stems due to a hotter engine, therefore tightening the valve gap even more.
