Hi folks, my sons bike is up and running and is fairly nippy, it actually does 40mph with wind behind and 35 normal. I havn't d- restricted it yet because i want him to run it in. The fuel consumption seems to be very high, he has only done 17 mile and there is only just over half a tank of fuel left. Is that normal on a new bike?

sounds like its allready de-restricted these bikes are limited to 29mph
with the fuel i'd check the mixture screw
make sure its no more then 2 1/2 turns from out

My one is only weeks old 200k and the consumption is poor. I think like a car it does not improve until the engine is worn in. By the way mine is restricted and it does 35mph on the flat with no problem (if only it could get up hills)

Iv'e measured my fuel consumption at 77MPG. I'm de-restricted & mostly do short journeys at full throttle, but that's still poor. My car does 25MPG & the engine is 36 times bigger. How much unburnt fuel is coming out of my exhaust? Anyone tried holding a naked flame by it? #7#

dose having a diffrent air filter or no air filter have an effect on fuel consumption?

chcknugget, my mistake
just filled up after doing 100Km (62.137miles), took 3.29litres, I think that equals 30.395Km per litre, multiplied by 4.54(litres per gallon) equals138km per gallon which in turn equals about 86 mpg......
not too bad considering unrestricted cdi, freeflow filter, bigger jet, lighter rollers and lots of short journeys at high revs............
.............#sprint#

just topped mine up after 82miles and it took 3.38 litres ( 0.75 gallons), so think that works out at around 109mpg. seems pretty high, but I'm not complaining. Mind you, it's probably down to the fact that half of that 82miles was me pushing it home
