My qt-4 is not running as well as I think it could do. I'm just touching 30mph SOMETIMES on the flat. There was no screw in the top of my carb lid, and I changed the little circlip thingy on the carb needle to the middle notch as this is what everyone suggests is the best setting. I'm pretty sure there are no kinks in any pipes, including intake pipe so I'm baffled as to why I can't get over 30mph on the flat. I've got some new 4.1g Malossi rollers from beedspeed but haven't fitted them yet as i dont have an impact wrench (yet!). This will solve my accleration problem (hopefully) but all i mainly want is more top speed. Also the large tube that goes into the back of the carb from the filter sometimes comes loose, i've tried to get it back on but it won't stay in place, this isn't really a bad problem, just slighty annoying when it comes of sometimes when i go over a speed bump or pothole. Anyway could someone help please desperatley

I've got a qt-4......... it ran similarly, what does it rev to? mine rarely got above 5500rpm, I discovered that the standard roller weights were 8.5g.........I'm using 4.7s, now it revs around 7000rpm and happily sits at 45-50 on a good flat, copes with hills much better........

This was posted by a guest on this forum, they suggest using a block of wood to jam the variator front pulley. I would rather use an impact wrench, but this method looks as if it would be quite easy. Hope it helps. Click image for a larger view Another possibility would be to use an oil filter chain wrench to hold the variator. This would probably do less damage to the gear teeth actually.
