I have a Vonroad VR50-qt (looks like a baotian sport) and I have been trying to change the variator rollers. Problem is, I can't get the damn variator nut off. I have tried using a pneumatic impact wrench capable of applying 50kg/m torque. I have tried jamming a wooden block against the starter pulley, wedging a screw driver between teeth on the starter pulley and then using a socket wrench with a 1.5m extension bar. I have tried soaking the nut in penetrating oil and heating it with a blowtorch. I am still unable to remove said variator nut, I really want to get this thing off so I can change the rollers and have a bike that can do more than 35km/hr up hills. Any advise that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried jamming a wooden block against the starter pulley, wedging a screw driver between teeth on the starter pulley and then using a socket wrench with a 1.5m extension bar. If the wood block is placed in this position, and you are pulling up on the wrench extension putting the screwdriver force against the wood block, the variator nut should break loose.

yep..... don't know how all you guys with the electric ones can possibly tell how tight you're doing stuff......( no wonder people are stripping threads and having things falling off ) ................ #sprint#

errrrrrr.....this is about UNDOING, even so, if its that tight from the factory its unlikely you'd strip it, although I would not use an impact to do it up, then I would use a torque wrench, but thats only any good if you know the foot pounds to start with.

Very Unlikely anyone will be able to strip/break the variator nut when doing it up with an electric impact wrench...
May be possible to break it with a high powered Air impact wrench
