:PThe problem i`ve got is this -my BT has a serious lack of power when its cold and not a great deal more when warm. Its had the brass screw removed, carb needle adjusted,4g rollers fitted.when cold the engine can die to tickover for no apparent reason then rev back up(a bit on the dangerous side). On a good day 40mph downhill but tonight down to 10mph up hill.I know it will never be the fastest thing on 2 wheels but this is ridiculous, any help would be appreciated thanks

hi hypojam I saw your valve clearances forum, the only thing I don't understand is how can I adjust the valve into 0.05 or 0.10?
How do I know that is 0.05 because it's a very small bit. thank you

Ive done 700km`s and the problems getting worse, maybe i`ll have to strip it down to find the fault.would it be worth trying a larger jet or maybe in the long run fitting 80cc kit(do they give that much more power/advantage)? thanks

just a thought! my jinlun jlqt4 would die if you opened the throttle more than half, i checked all the normal stuff plug, valves, carb settings, i found the fault it was a sticking throttle slide remove the top of the carb, lift the diaphram and oil the slide. make sure it moves freely. my bike toped 54mph down hill today, (off the clock) 45 on the flat, 35 up hill, also fitted 5.7 gram rollers. cif

Checked the valve clearances last weekend and ran my scoot this week--what a difference! greater acceleration, slightly higher top end and smoother running. The gaps were virtually non existant so adjusted them to 0.05 in & 0.1 ex #thumbs_up#
