At long last I have got back to writing this epic
Bought Baotian125T-9 from Pitbike4all aka Cannon2 in Notts via Ebay for £585 plus £95 Del. on 10th August. Could have had it delivered the next day but this was not convenient so chose the following Monday 17th. Bike arrived as promised at lunch time. The driver left it on the pavement as the road was too narrow for him to back the Luton type wagon up. Complete with cardboard/plastic packing around an angle iron crate mounted on a blue pallet. This took approx an hour to remove before we could push the bike up the drive out of the view of the neighbours gaze. After putting the bike bits together battery, mirrors and hand grips checked paper work. ''Where's the CoC'' says Graham (husband) ''Dunno, whats it look like'' says I. Like this he waving his copy around (he bought himself a Chinese 125 motor bike 6mths ago). So I get on the phone to Cannon2 to ask as to where the CoC might be, in the seat box they say. Oh no its not says me. Seems there has been a mix up in China and some one put several CoC in one bike but not mine. Can I give them the Vin Number which is on the chassis somewhere.
After crawling around on the garage floor I locate number and ring them back with it. They say they will post it to me. On the 17th I ring Pitbike again to be told Nick has gone to China to see about the CoCs he's back on Saturday.
So ring on Monday 24th (call number 4), Nick coming back today funny I thought they said Saturday. So I ring on the Wednesday to be told they need the engine number so back crawling around the floor under the bike to find this number. Again promise CoC will be posted to me. As it is coming up to the August bank holiday weekend and we are going away hopefully it will be here when we get back.
Get back on the Wednesday, no CoC. So on the Saturday my son and I decide to go to find Cannon 2 in Notts its not that far from Birmingham. Ha. Eighty miles later and only 32 miles from Grimsby I am beginning to panic. Its now 1pm and I am supposed to be at the shop for 2pm and its taken us 1.5hrs to get this far. Any how find the company and they do exist and very friendly and apologetic they are too. Show me all the CoCs they have, about a dozen and no way of knowing which bike they belong to. They offer to exchange the bike for me so long as I repack the original bike as best I can so that the carrier can pick it up at the same time as delivering the new one. Arrange for new bike to be delivered on 13th Sept so on the 12th I spend an hour rebuilding the frame then the phone rings CoC will arrive by registered post tomorrow 13th. Hooray now I can get it Reg .
Except I can't as in the mean time I have lost my paper licence and have had to apply for a new photo one. So on the 30th Sept my licence comes back and I rush up to the DVLA in Brum and wait in the queue for an hour with all my documents CoC, insurance, invoice from Cannon2, registration form all filled in, driving licence, utility bill just in case I need one and the cash £53. Everything is in order and looks very familiar, so do I want to collect it or or have it posted decide on the post as I am tired of climbing up 4 flights stairs, not at all disabled friendly wonder how they get round that. On the 6th Oct my log book arrived and I got the registration plate made the next day. So from purchase to on the road it has taken 9 weeks. Cost nearly £800 incl phone calls and petrol to Notts and I love it. Just have to get through the CBT but thats another story.
Just to add Birmingham DVLA are very good and were not at all difficult and had no problem with a grey import.
So if you if you have got this far and haven't fell asleep. thanx for reading
