It would be really useful if we could work out the original engine type, as, I'm sure that knowing this would help with parts.
Could I suggest a similar thread for the 50cc's
The Chinese scooters seem to have the 152QMI 125cc engine.
The Internet Bikeshop (Where I got mine from) thinks that the tooling from a Yamaha 125 (possibly Cygnus) was sold to the chinese for this - they say that the bikes come in a box marked Yamaha.
Has anyone seen, or better still worked on, or even better, got a 5 to 15 year old Yamaha Cygnus, to see if it is the same?

Oh, Also. If the engine model number is 152QMI (yes 152 not 125) is it possible that the engine is based on a 150cc engine - maybe there could be a line in upgrades (barrels carbs etc.)

The engine type for the 50cc Baotian BT50QT-9 is 139QMB, From reading the offical website, it would seem the engines are in fact based on the Yamaha engines, however I worked on the old Honda C50/70/90 bikes a few years ago and these engine are remarkably similar!
