Hi all, just thought id give a word of caution. although there may be no direct link my bike seem to mess up afta about 1000km of me alterin the carb pin from the third notch to the second. my bike has never been restricted. !ACE! so iv never ad to cut any pink wire. but ne ways the bike messed up it started losing performance and losing power until one day it went dead slooooooooow. any ways. scratched me ed n it seemed like sum thin was blocked so i checked filters tubes fuel line etc then i took the carb out checked n thought herm pin it lets more fuel through. so i changed the pin back to normal n it seems fine know but it doesnt want to engage into a higer ratio. so ithink that the rollers which are stock may have worn down cos of the quick accel and speed but still need to check them. so be careful this could cause this problem or maybe im just a rare case. if any of you want to ask about owt il try me best 2 sort ya out. good night n up the owls

It appears some bikes dont even have this notch on the carb needle i am wondering if it is in fact some sort of calabration for the carb and not related to derestriction.
In many post i have seen it seems for some bikes it is set ok to start with some its better moved down some its better up
i have noticed on my bike if i lower the clip, i randomly after some distance loose nearly all power at full throttle but if i turn to like 1/4 1/2 then i can regain power to to about 25mph allmost like the throttle is fully open, if i go over this the power drops quickly at first i was thinking it was a heat problem or a fuel starvation or flooding issue or air intake problem
Today i tryed diffrent settings on the needle and the best so far appears to be when i set the clip to the top notch, it seems to be working better accelaration wise and speed is infact a little better then it was on the 2nd notch, Anything lower then 2nd notch for me makes the bike completely unuseable i have tryed playing with the fuel mixtures at diffrent notches but this does not improve things
One last thing that is apparent if you put the restrction screw back in the carb lid problem goes away but top speed is to slow around 24-26mph which i think is to slow to make the bike worthwhile and safe as you cant keep up with the traffic

Sounds like your jet is having trouble supplying the necessary amount of fuel to the engine.
Buy a new #90 jet, and then play around with washer on the needle

wondering if the needle setting is related to the size of the jet

but it doesnt want to engage into a higer ratio. so ithink that the rollers which are stock may have worn down cos of the quick accel and speed but still need to check them. I just noticed that all of my stock rollers have flat spots on them. I don't think this caused any problems, but it is interesting nonetheless.
