I have a new 50cc scooter (2 miles on clock) and the best speed i can get on the flat is about 25-28 mph. is this right or will it get quicker as it is run in. if it is not right what can i do to speed it up. i would expect about 35-40 on flat.....??

25mph is the rec speed to start with in the manual so not to stress the engine

25mph is the rec speed to start with in the manual so not to stress the engine Running in for a Baotian 50cc (from user manual) 25kmh (15.5mph) for the first 200km 35kmk (21.7mph) for the next 800km After 1000 km Max 45kmh (27.9mph) I tried sticking to the 25kph for the first 200km, but only managed it for the first 20km.

i've tried to stick to the recomended speeds in the manal but have found it impossible. it's just not safe! had the scooter for over 2 months now and still only 280km on the clock. its hard to get the mileage cos my round rip to work and back is only 5kms. can't wait for the engine to break in

I am thrashing it half my journey's downhill and i get just over 40mph - feels great! the 2nd part is all up hill and i gradually slow down to 20mph and hold everyone up behind me
