my rear wheel is very stiff at the moment and causing speed loss. i have read that i need to lubricate the braking system........................how? ?

I would suggest you need to adjust the rear brake rather than lubricating it.
Download the service manual for info on setting the rear brake.

There is a screw you need to loosen near the back wheel, be carefull

Perhaps what you mean is that the brakes are binding (i.e. locked onto the disk) - You may be able to turn the adjuster to ease them off a bit.(Clamp cable with pliers so that nut actually moves round)
Otherwise, download service manual, remove exhaust, then rear wheel, take brakes apart, lubricate moving parts with copper grease - DO NOT GET ANY ON BRAKE SHOES
Put back together and do wheel up properly (you MUST use an impact wrench, otherwise the rear wheel cannot be done up to the correct torque) - check torque, refit exhaust, adjust brake cable.
