Hi all, Anyone know how I can make my BT 125T9 go faster? Could I carry out the de-restriction mods as per the 50cc's? The engine feels like it's got loads more to give, but I dont want to mess around too much without knowing what I'm doing! Any help greatly received. DD

I have the same model, It does 50mph (80kmh) in the condition it arrived in.
Are you looking for a higher top speed? or more accelleration?
The bike does not appear to be restricted, but has been supplied at a lower power level than the Yamaha Cygnus it was based on (BT125 is 5.6nm I think the Yamaha was 7nm - but this could be lower as emmission control is a requirement)
Anyway,
For more acceleration, look at, lighter rollers, re profiled variators, stronger clutch springs, race spec CDI (different mapping in those), perhaps re jet carb with free flow air filter - maybe bigger carb, cylinder head proting, sports / race exhaust, big bore kit to say 200cc.
For better handling, uprated shock absorbers and front fork.
For better braking, bigger disk, braided hoses.
Problem is, If you do all of that, you could have bought a more powerful bike to start off with!!
Try a race spec CDI, there are a few links to a company trading on ebay called Taipei scooter assassins, they do one for about £25 for a Honda GY6 type engine. you can fit it in about 2 minutes, and easily revert back to the old one if there is a problem (All you do is plug it in).
You could change the roller weights, although cheaper (Get a good make though - malossi or similar as they wear out) but you need to take the variator apart to do this, takes a few hours and you need an impact wrench to do it.
Best of luck and let me know how you get on
