Spot on. www.beedspeed.com has these belts £11.99 for standard (order no. 7173) and £27.99 for Malossi Kevlar.(order 617211) I think I might ask 'Santa' to bring me a Malossi drive belt. #groovin# Thanks Botanic, have some Karma Why do companies insist on using 0870 telephone numbers, and expect potential customers to pay nearly 10p per minute, just to order parts? #no_no# If anyone does order from them, could you try asking for the geographic telephone number, and see if it is offered.

I had to phone up an electrical shop two miles down the road to see if my tumble dryer had arrived and that was an 0870 number. #WTF#

not as bad as my local paper the evening gazette who expect people to pay up to 37p per minute to buy for example a table and 4 chairs from the classifieds
Safe & Protected with 07092 For your safety, we apply a security phone number on all private advertising placed with us. This keeps your phone number private but still allows buyers to contact you directly. You benefit from being able to protect your telephone details in print and online, you can provide two contact numbers – helping potential buyers to reach you. The security phone number also helps prevent sales canvassing calls. The service is completely FREE to you, the advertiser, and protects you and your details. Once you have sold your item, simply ring us quoting your telephone number and we will deactivate your security number saving you unnecessary calls.
Customer Information: When you call one of our advertisers on a number that begins with 07092 you will be charged from a standard BT phone 37p per minute at peak times, 25p per minute in the evening and 12.5p per minute at weekends. Other operators and mobile phone charges will vary according to operator. This is for the safety of all our private advertisers.

a kevlar belt would last longer, without a doubt because kevlar is much more resistant to high temperature. Kevlar is also stronger and more hard wareing, after all they make bullet proof vests out of kevlar!
How much longer they will last is something that would have to be tested. Because these scooters are so relatively new, not many people have tried the kevlar belts.

Just recieved a Kevalr beltfor Beed Speeds 61 7211 - however semms about a cm to short as cannot get over the front (crank) spindle - seems to fit correctly at cluch / wheel end - any one else actaully fitted one of these ? - if so how did you "stretch" it

Its very tight to fit what i did was pull the rear pulley apart and then the belt sat further in the groove and that allowed me to have more belt to play with at the driving pulley end Hope this helps

Couldn't resist chipping in on this one, as I worked in the industrial power transmission industry for 17 years and designed industrial gearboxes, v-belt/variable speed belt/timing belt drives etc.
I wouldn't get too hung up on the 'Kevlar' aspect, a little stretch is no bad thing and softens the drive take up and can help to prolong the life of other transmission components. The 'Gates' manufacture mentioned is top quality (anyone remember 'Uniroyal', they were bought out by Gates, the huge American corporation) and well worth sourcing if available. The recent trend is for Kevlar cords, but Polyester is a close second.
The speed issue is largely irrelevant, as long (as has been said) there is no serious slip (these drives do slip, and some is inevitable) and, of course, the belt doesn't snap! The width of the belt will affect the gearing however, but the wear is so slow that you wouldn't notice until you fit the new, wider one.
Would be worth lightly abrading (with wet & dry paper) the shine off the pulley faces when fitting the new belt, so help it bed in, and to avoid slip.
Anyone else finding the discrimination against chinese scoots a problem? My local dealer also dismisses them as rubbish, and says parts back-up/tech support is non-existent. They are all being protectionist of their own market/product, and although the quality is not as good as the jap stuff, it is not far behind. They should be afraid, very afraid!!

Thanks 'Cantlogin'. Great post.
You could remove the variator nut and front pulley to get the belt on, it may be easier than trying to stretch it over the cogged pulley.

Hi, I think I might have a problem with my drive belt, after I've been driving in town there seems to be a hot rubber like smell coming from my scooter, this has just started to happen recently.
I was just wondering how long drive belts are meant to last, my scooter (Malaguti Firefox) has done 10500 Km, but I bought it 2nd hand so I don't know if it has had a belt any time in its life.
Any help is much appreciated.
