Quick question for you experts on de-restriction.
I opened up my sons scooter over the weekend to change the spark plug (i.e. took the seat out). Dangling loose inside, was a pink wire not connected to anything.
Is this the pink wire that is used for de-restriction purposes, or another pink wire that I need not worry about?
Same thing applied to his girlfriends when we change the spark plug on that as well.
The scooters are BT50-QT9.

Looking from the back of the scooter, the pink wire is to the right of the compartment. This wire can be accessed, (and disconnected), from under the right hand side of the scooter. I would be surprised if the wires on both scooters had arrived in that state. If you have told them to run in the scooters properly, it is more likely they have found out about the pink wire derestiction, and done it themselves, without telling you. The way to test if the scooter is derestricted by the pink wire is to get it up to 28 mph, then the power should stutter as it regulates itself to stop it going above 28 mph.

I changed the spark plugs for better quality NGK plugs as part of the first service.
I doubt that they have done it themselves, as they would not have a clue how. Neither of them know about this website yet and I havn't told them about the pink wire.

It's a very long time since I was a teenager, but it would go something like this:- They meet someone with a similar scooter, that person says have you deristricted them yet to make them go faster, they say no, how do you do that? Person just reaches under left hand side and pulls wire from connector, there you should get another 5 mph now. Great say the kids, but we better not tell dad as we are supposed to be running them in. Now I'm not saying that they did this, but if I was their age, it is probably what I would have done
