I wouldn't think so Stevie, it is just a bigger storage capacity, (5 amp hours instead of 4 amp hours), so if the physical size fits, the bigger capacity should be a bonus. Was the number the same YT5L-BS? It looks like I am going to need a new battery, I refilled the electrolyte in the old one, and recharged it, but it is still no use.

Thats the battery. I ordered it from a company called A and N, on a next day recorded delivery. That was tuesday, and it arrived today! It is narrower and taller than the original battery, but I managed to fit it in by cutting away a platic peice that held the smaller battery and stopped it slideing about.

If you have managed to get it to fit OK, then it will have 25% extra capacity, so it won't be such a bad deal, even though you have had to make an adaption. Let us know if everything is working OK. When I called in to County Batteries (mentioned in the other thread) on Thursday, to pick up some electrolyte, they had the YTX5L-BS battery in stock, and it was £22 inc. del. On their website, it gives a price of £29.99, but that is for the Varta one. The guy in the shop said sometimes they have the Varta one, and sometimes the cheaper one. The dimensions given on the website for the Varta one seem to be exactly the same as the original. Link to Varta one below, but the cheaper one is not listed, so if anyone else is after one, it might be worth ringing the number on the web page and enquiring. www.countybattery.co.uk/cgi-bin//cbs-product-detail.cgi?record=498

When the battery arrived, i had to fill it with the electrolyte, there didnt seem to be enough, so I topped it up with top up water, and took it for a spin, only about 5 miles, and it seemed ok. Im still running it in, so kept the speed down, although i did touch 40 mph briefly, going down a slight hill. So,m i'll take it out again tomorrow and see how it goes.
