Hi, I've recently bought a DOTERA 50QT11 from Ebay and am very confused about how to de-restrict this scooter. There seems to be so much contradictory info available, and I'm worried about doing this at all. I've removed the brass screw in the carb with little effect. I did also get some advice about removing a de-restriction ring from the drive thingy.... What about the 'pink' wire to the CDI. MY CDI is under a panel on one side of the scoot. What should I do? ? Help...........confused.

Definitely cut the pink wire and if memory serves me correct undo the carb cover and move the top of the pin down 3 notches. If there's any more to it than that I'm sure someone will say. Welcome aboard by the way!! Have you got any pics of your scooter or an ebay link?

Who did you get the scooter from? I got a bt50qt11 and have just had to pay £87 to customs so that I can register it.

Welcome aboard Trevor!! I'm pretty sure your bike is the same as a Baotian so any tips you pick up relating to a Baotian should work on your scooter.

A red light is a new one on me. As far as I know nobody on here has a Chunlan but forum member Rusty has a Sinski 2 stroke he might be the man to ask. He also runs the site www.ChineseScooterClub.co.uk Hopefully he'll read this topic.

Ive let him know the situation, and suggested it would be a nice gesture to meet some of the cost, but to be fair, I would have had to pay this regardless, as customs told me it was a destination tax, and I could try claiming it back from Austrian customs if my seller had already paid, which I believe he had. I think i'll let sleeping dogs lie and get on with it.

Still a little confused about the de-restriction. I bought a new CDI from Bikemartdirect in Lincon, but it didn't make any reay difference. Cut the pink wire to the CDI, no effect. Removed the brass screw from the carb, no effect. Frustrating or what? I bought my scoot from Expressbuy101 on Ebay and it was shipped to me from Austria. I did get a VAT bill for £94 after I reqistered the scoot, but man aged to get the supplier to provide me with VAT details, so I didn't have to pay the VAT. The Ebay auction did state VAT was included in the purchase price. BTW I paid £500 inc shipping for the scoot, so it is a great deal. Registration was a piece of cake at my local DVLA office. Insurance with MCE is not too bad either at less than £150. I've now got a full set of technical manuals if anyone's interested. Still need help with de-restriction of the 50QT11 if anyone has been successful out there.....

These are the people I got my scooter from. They do reply, but can take 48 hrs or so. The are in austria, and the scooter comes from China, through them. I got stung for £87 VAT, and couldnt register it until i paid it. Personally I wouldnt deal with them again, not 100% happy at the mo as having battery problems (I hope its only battery). Delivery was about 10 days, not too bad. Is your the black and white retro?
